Why move to Cloud based Infrastructure?

The biggest question in the technology industry is always, what is the next best thing? Well the next best thing is a relative term. What is best for one company is not always the same for another company. The same could be said about moving infrastructure from physical servers in an onsite server room to a cloud environment. When all servers are in one server room, there can be many disadvantages.

Some of those disadvantages include administration costs, system maintenance, lifecyle maintenance and possible total failure. By moving to the cloud, these items can be reduced, because the cloud service can eliminate many of the costs and issues associated with those disadvantages. For a company that has all servers in one location the possibility of total down, can happen with something as simple as a power outage. However, if the infrastructure is in the cloud, a power failure at an office does not limit employees from working at another location. Cloud access is limited to internet access. The concept of 100% uptime has always been an unrealistic goal, but with the redundancy that Cloud offers, companies can get closer to that goal. With cloud based infrastructure companies can even hire third parties such as GSI to manage these systems for them. This provides companies with experts in server management. Cost savings and system downtime are only a couple benefits of Cloud based infrastructure, but it is definitely one of the next best things in the technology industry.
